  • Designing and making silverware

    Exploding Candelabra

As a craftsman, I find the continuity of designing and then making a piece very satisfying. To me, it is a natural partnership. My designs are contemporary yet based on conventional techniques, which can be adapted to overcome any problems that may arise. For instance, practical constraints imposed by size and shape, and the mechanics of the design, can be turned to advantage in producing modern silver tableware. Applying this ethos to items of everyday life is one of the many pleasures of my job.

  • Drunken tumbler cups

I designed the ‘Drunken Tumbler Cup’  to be cradled, thinking owners would sip a shot or two of fine whisky from it. However, my customers have since proved it to be very good at keeping champagne cool. They tell me the feel of ice-cold silver on the lips is something to be savoured!
